Our next women’s group meeting is on Tuesday 4th July 7.15-9.15

AUSTERITY AND ANTAGONISM- HOLDING THE LINE ON RIGHTS FOR WOMEN

with Zlakha Ahmed Chief Executive,Rotherham Apna Haq (meaning ‘my rights’) and member of WISE (Women’s Islamic Initiative on Spirituality and Equality).

The volatile political scene, both here and worldwide, offers hope that issues of fairness and equality will be drivers for change. It also exposes challenges to hard fought for rights and services for women with a narrow vision of equality and the drum beat of austerity and fear diverting attention from the underlying roots of inequality

 

In this session we will hear about a successful local campaign to maintain an essential service for BME women experiencing violence and abuse and consider the wider social, legal and political issues impacting on all women, particularly those who are vulnerable
